Melanie and Andrew's Intimate Central Coast Elopement Inspiration
Los Osos, CA | Montaña de Oro
POSTED ON 11.20.18

A few months ago, I started dreaming of photographing a styled shoot. I’ve been in the wedding industry for a few years now but I’ve never done a shoot that I planned from head to toe + found a couple to model for me instead of having a couple choose me! But holy moly, was this process so. much. fun. I decided that Montaña De Oro would be the perfect place given that it has luscious eucalyptus groves + those rolling sand dunes for days. I’m obsessed with San Luis Obispo + just had to get down there again for a shoot.

I had a dear friend, miss Romey (who I recently photographed here), helping me with shopping for all the details to perfectly incorporate the light, boho theme I was aiming for, as well as lettering those beautiful invites + corresponding menus. I also was so excited to team up with the gorgeous Asha from Wilder Floral Co. again! She is located in downtown San Luis Obispo + makes some of the most stunning bouquets, you guys!

Then comes Melanie + Andrew. Ugh. They are amazing. I met Melanie about three years ago across the counter of this insanely cute + highly popular coffee shop in Downtown SLO called Scout Coffee. For the rest of that year, every time I would go to Scout, Melanie would be behind the counter laughing with so much joy + whipping together yummy drinks…. I’m not going to lie to you guys, I wanted so badly to hang out with her outside of that coffee shop but I’m a shy little nugget sometimes so I couldn’t bring myself to ask. Fast forward to this past August when Andrew was a groomsmen in a wedding I photographed + Melanie was attending as his plus one. I fell in love with the two of them, their infectious giggles, killer dance moves, + knew that I had to work with them sometime.

So when the time came to pick a couple to model for my shoot, I knew they would be the perfect ones. Melanie + Andrew were so wonderful to work with.. it was like they do this all the time or something. They are obviously smitten with each other that barely any suggestions were needed + so many giggles were exchanged.

Thank you a million times over to my amazing team. To Melanie + Andrew for being two of most gorgeous + rad human to photograph. To Asha for creating not one but two beautiful bouquets. To Romey for all of your design help, the delicious cake, lovely lettering + keeping me calm while I was panic steaming a dress a few miles away. And finally to our two guys for keeping us caffeinated, mixing cocktails in the forest, being the behind the scenes muscles + building me that adorable branch teepee in the Eucalyptus Grove. So much love to you all!

XOXO, Cate
