After 15 months of researching, planning, dreaming and stressing, our wedding day finally arrived. It was big: a big crowd, a big bridal party (both because we had 10 on each side and because multiple groomsmen were 6’5” and taller) and big love. We wanted the perfect mix of romantic but playful, beautiful but casual and traditional but unique. I wore a princess dress and rose gold sparkly Keds; Victor wore a suit with donut socks. We had lawn games and food trucks and mismatched vintage plates and flowers everywhere.
So much of the love surrounding us was because my husband is one of the most beloved people I know. Yes, his personality is sparkling and he can talk sports endlessly, but the real reason his fan club is so strong is because his friends and family have seen him go through tragedy and come out stronger because of it. He lost his wife, Crystal, in an accident 7 years ago but our wedding felt like redemption and peace at last for so many people, including us. I know that Crystal and so many other loved ones were smiling down on us that day and will continue to do so for the rest of our lives.
Cate captured all the joy and beauty and emotion of this day perfectly. She fit in perfectly with my friends and they want to be friends with her in real life. She was able to direct the dozens of people in our bridal party and family efficiently but gracefully. We were able to get all the photos we wanted while also maximizing time for socializing and dancing! The only thing that would have made our wedding day better would be the ability to relive it again and again.
